Psychotherapy and Counselling Services
‘I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.’
Psychotherapy has made huge strides over the past 20 years and the current research findings indicate that more and more people than ever are turning to psychotherapy and our society is growing and changing as a result of it. I believe that merging relevant disciplines like neuroscience, energy psychology, evidence based psychotherapies and creative therapies can work in very useful and fascinating ways.
People come to psychotherapy sessions for all kinds of reasons. Some may feel that situations in their lives have become challenging and they need to develop new, healthier ways of coping. Others simply aim to strengthen their emotional well-being and resilience, so they can go on living full and happy lives. Yet others may feel ‘stuck’ in their life as a result of emotionally traumatic events that happened in the past and they need some direction to unlock their strength within, heal and move forward.
A psychotherapy session is a safe, entirely confidential space for working through thoughts and emotions. I believe that everyone has the strength within to deal with their challenges; my role as a psychotherapist is to guide and support while the client grows in confidence and begins creating the life they desire.
Online Psychotherapy and Counselling
Online therapy, conducted through a safe platform Doxy.me, is a convenient, discrete alternative which involves no stressful travelling for appointments and more flexible appointment times. I currently work with clients all over the world: Russia, Lithuania, Bali, Ukraine, United Stated of America. Online psychotherapy/counselling has revolutionised therapy because modern technology is changing the way we communicate. With Online psychotherapy/counselling, choosing a therapist is not limited to your geographic location, you may choose a therapist from almost anywhere in the world.
Online psychotherapy/counselling has made therapy accessible to everyone and anywhere.
Online psychotherapy/counselling may be useful to clients who live in countries where therapy in their preferred language is not readily available, or for clients who prefer the privacy of therapy from their own homes. Online psychotherapy/counselling is also invaluable to people who are disabled or housebound, allowing them access to counselling and psychotherapy without the need to travel. Clients are often surprised how comfortable they feel and find themselves more able to ‘open up’, and share personal details because they feel safer and more relaxed in their own home.
At the root of many of our emotional issues often is unresolved childhood trauma and difficult experiences that happen through the course of our life. During childhood we are forming an understanding of the world and our own place in it. We form a belief system that may not be helpful or based on facts, and the beliefs become programmed into the subconscious. In later life, we make decisions based on this subconscious programming. In psychotherapy, clients can explore these inner beliefs and challenge those that aren’t serving them well anymore.
Solution-focused brief psychotherapy
However, some clients would benefit from results driven approach. Many people can respond better to a moving forward type of therapy rather than looking back. Depending on the client’s needs where they are emotionally and developmentally. These type of clients can benefit from solution-focused therapy that is focused on making positive changes within a specific time scale, usually 6-8 sessions. It seems logical to me to choose the type of psychotherapy, in conjunction with clients, that is best suited to their situation.
‘When one focuses on problems they tend to gain more problems. When one focuses on possibilities and solutions they gain more opportunities’ – Tatjana Simakova
I believe that providing clients with psychological ‘tools’ can be invaluable in their journey. I also believe in the power of a strong liaison between two people, especially when working with children and adolescents. A strong and trusting relationships enable clients to unlock their strength within and find inspiration, courage, confidence, success and contentment (happiness).
